Semi-antique Turkman saddle cover rug from Afghanistan. 70x73 cms

A saddle cover is some kind of cushion laid on the saddle for greater confort for the rider. At the top it has a slot so that the saddle horn can be inserted.

This semi-antique Turkmana rug for the saddle is in perfect condition. The wool with which it has been woven is soft and shiny. All the fringes are original and intact, indicating that it was probably woven for a special occasion and never used again.
