After three decades in the world of tribal rugs, just when you think you have seen everything, a piece like this appears. Everything about this kilim is unique: the striking combination of pink, orange, and black, the large-scale border motifs, and above all, its exceptionally unusual design.
The composition is centred around a series of motifs arranged within square forms, all set against an extraordinary pink background. The oversized motifs in the border create a dramatic framing effect, drawing attention to the small central field. To complete the composition, the weaver added cartouches filled with zigzag motifs at both ends of the kilim, giving the piece even more individuality and character.
Woven with beautiful lustrous wool, this kilim has a wonderful texture and presence. Please note that the piece is not perfectly straight: at its widest point in the middle it measures 70 cm, while at the bottom it measures 67 cm. It is woven entirely in wool, except for the warp, which is made of goat hair, visible in the fringes.
A truly rare and highly distinctive tribal weaving.
