A semi-antique Baluch rug from Afghanistan, woven with exceptionally soft, lustrous wool. The design is composed of paired guls set against an unusual and striking deep blue field, giving the rug a distinctive character.
There are a couple of areas with low pile, consistent with age and use, but the rug remains structurally sound and is ready to withstand many more decades of everyday use. The wonderfully soft, naturally glossy wool makes it a pleasure to walk on or sit upon.
The selvages have been reinforced with traditional goat hair, a durable finishing detail that reflects the craftsmanship of Baluch weaving traditions. A beautiful tribal rug that combines practicality, warmth, and timeless appeal.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool and goat hair for selvages
Size: 232×140 cms
Origin: Baluch tribe from Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1940s
