We bought this rug from a semi-nomadic family from Western Turkey (see pictures). The weaver had woven a pair for each of her daughter´s dowry, we didn´t want to buy it, but she insisted she had no attachment to it since she has plenty of time to weave another one, until her daughters are of marriageable age. This rug is very rare and must be one of the last woven rugs by nomadic people, particularly taking into account the fact that she only used natural dyes. The weaver usually weaves in winter, when there is more spare time since the animals are grown up and the new one have not been born yet.
