Bereber Aït Ouaouzguitei horse blanket, Morocco, featuring a flat-woven kilim base made from undyed black goat hair, overlaid with knotted sections in brightly coloured wool. At the centre of the kilim, two large floral or plant motifs are woven in bold scale, creating a strong focal design.
This type of textile is characteristic of Berber craftsmanship from the Aït Ouaouzguite region in the High Atlas Mountains south of Marrakech. The combination of materials—goat hair, wool, and distinctive geometric and botanical motifs—is typical of local weaving traditions.
Similar techniques and designs are used across a range of handmade Berber textiles from this area, including large kilims (hanbels), capes (handiras), horse blankets, and storage bags, reflecting both functional use and strong regional aesthetic identity.
The wool is extremelly soft and shiny.
