A semi-antique Taimani Baluch rug from southwest Afghanistan, featuring a generous use of undyed wool. The weaver of this 1960s piece skillfully combined dyed and natural wool tones—ivory and brown—to create a beautifully balanced design.
The entire main field is filled with repeating eight-pointed stars, with smaller motifs neatly occupying the spaces between them.
The borders introduce a softer contrast, with more organic, rounded shapes, including a band of four-petaled flowers.
The wool is soft and of excellent quality, with a full, long pile that enhances the rug’s warmth and character.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool
Size: 186×138 cms
Origin: Taimani Baluch tribe from S.W. Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1960s
