Vintage Baluch Rug from Afghanistan – Natural Undyed Wool
This vintage Baluch rug is woven entirely with undyed wool, leaving the soft, lustrous fibers in their natural hues for a warm and organic look.
The design is deceptively simple: the same motif is repeated across the main field and carried into the border — an uncommon feature in Baluch rugs. While repetition can risk creating a dull appearance, the subtle variations in natural wool color, the slight differences in motif size and shape, and the rug’s wild, primitive character make it a truly captivating piece.
Both ends are finished with kilim edges, decorated with plaited brown and ivory wool, showcasing the weaver’s attention to detail.
A perfect vintage Baluch rug for spaces that need a neutral foundation with a touch of character and charm.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool
Size: 160×116 cms
Origin: Baluch tribe from Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1970s
