A semi-antique Baluch rug from Afghanistan featuring a striking grid pattern across the main field. The entire field is filled with a lattice of lozenges, each enclosing a delicate four-petaled flower. Subtle abrash—natural variations in dye—adds depth and character, creating beautiful tonal shifts within the same colour.
The main border, woven in undyed natural ivory wool, is adorned with a slender Tree of Life motif, lending a refined and symbolic touch.
Crafted from exceptionally soft wool, the rug boasts a long, plush, full pile—making it wonderfully comfortable underfoot and ideal for walking barefoot.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool
Size: 195×125 cms
Origin: Baluch tribe from Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1960s
