An austere yet elegant Aimaq Baluch kilim from Afghanistan.
Woven in the 1940s, this kilim features a restrained colour palette composed of only a few hues. The design is organized into horizontal bands, where plain, unadorned sections alternate with intricately decorated ones.
The overall layout is tidy and well structured, yet it retains an organic character thanks to the sinuous, curving lines—an unintended effect of the weaver’s hand that lends the piece a subtle, playful charm. The weaving is fine, allowing for delicate details and intricate patterning.
The borders are embellished with extra weft wrappings.
The dyes are partially natural.
This kilim would be a perfect addition to a sophisticated and refined interior, bringing a subtle yet authentic tribal touch to a classy room.
