Antique Qashqai Kilim – A Striking use of natural dyes from Iran
This highly collectible antique Qashqai kilim from Iran features a bold and captivating design. Made with top-quality natural dyes, it showcases rich, deeply saturated colors—including striking greens and blues—that sets it apart.
At the heart of the kilim are three large central medallions, surrounded by smaller, irregularly placed motifs that intriguingly resemble alien figures! This playful, almost otherworldly character adds charm and uniqueness to the piece. The free-spirited composition of the main field contrasts beautifully with the more structured, symmetrical borders that frame the kilim.
Woven on dark brown wool warps, the kilim is further embellished with decorative wool pompons scattered throughout. The wool is finely spun and of outstanding quality, reflecting the remarkable craftsmanship of its Qashqai weavers. In mint condition.
