Have you ever seen a border like this? I haven’t!
Everything about this semi-antique Baluch rug is unique and unusual.
The central field features a large medallion surrounded by some rarely seen shapes, all set against a plain orange background — an uncommon colour for a Baluch rug.
But the real surprise comes when we look at the borders. The longer borders combine geometric motifs interspersed with tulips, arranged in a wonderfully unusual composition.
And then comes the real magic: the top and bottom borders feature a large-scale camel caravan crossing the entire width of the rug. The camels are shown with all their apparel and regalia — saddlebags, blankets and other details. And their faces are simply adorable!
The wool is extremely soft and lustrous, and of excellent quality. The pile is medium to full, with some areas showing wear. The upper part of the border is missing.

There are also Baloch diaspora communities in neighbouring regions, including in India, Turkmenistan and the Arabian Peninsula.
