Bright & Cheerful Vintage Qashqai Kilim – Dated 1372 (1993–94)
This vibrant vintage Qashqai kilim dates back to 1372 in the Persian calendar, equivalent to 1993–94 in the Gregorian calendar.
Its elongated design features three rows of interlocking medallions, set against a rich red field with striking abrash (natural color variations). Between the medallions, the weaver has added scattered geometric motifs, lending a playful, spontaneous touch to the overall design.
Look closely and you’ll notice initials woven into the upper and lower sections, along with the date—likely indicating that this kilim was created as a dowry piece. The initials may represent the couple’s names, with the date marking their wedding year.
Thick and durable, this kilim is well-suited for high-traffic areas while offering a beautiful piece of cultural heritage.

Turkic-speaking pastoral nomadic tribal groups began entering central and southern Iran during the eleventh and twelfth centuries. The Qashqai, as a large tribal unit, dates back at least to the early eighteenth century, when some Turkish(Turki)-speaking tribal groups in the region existed under the name Qashqai.
Qashqai kilims are best known for their boldness and freedom in the way the pattern is drawn. An aesthetically pleasing geometry, the fineness of their wool and their clear, strong colours combine to ensure their reputation as superlative examples.
