Minimalist Plain Qashqai Sofreh Kilim
This elegant sofreh kilim showcases a refined minimalist aesthetic. The central field is woven entirely in undyed, natural wool, intentionally left blank to highlight its raw beauty and purity. A deep, dark-toned border frames the field, creating a striking contrast against the soft white base. At each end of the kilim, the weaver has added a decorative border: one featuring warm, earthy tones, and the other composed of cooler shades — including a refreshing touch of turquoise blue. The balance of color and simplicity gives this piece a timeless and contemporary feel.

Sofrehs take their name from the Farsi (Persian) word for cloth and are used for several functions connected with preparing and eating food. Eating cloths are normally referred to simply as sofrehs and vary enormously in size-from small, rectangular mats for personal use to extremelly long, narrow runners for communal eating. They are woven in several standard techniques, including alternating bands of kilim and pile rug, and produced by a number of nomadic and tribal weavers in Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia and to a lesser degree, elsewhere.
