Kilim of the tribes of Arab origin of southern Iran. This vintage kilim was handwoven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own hand-spun and carded wool.
The Arab tribes of southern Iran wove a type of kilim called Shiraki, which means needlework, although they are woven on a loom. Practically all of them were made in two halves and joined at the center.
In this shiraki, on a terracotta background, a garden of small flowers has been arranged on a trellis. Diagonally shaped motifs have been woven for the edge. Very skillfully woven in two parts, and joined together to make a wider kilim.
